“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” -Matthew 5:4
“Your words have met me in my time of grief.” That’s what a listener from Nigeria recently contacted us to say. He continues:
“I need your prayers. I am a driver and used to spend long hours away from home. Recently my wife passed away and I was left with two young children. She had done all the childrearing and I was left without any idea of what to do. I come from a Muslim background, but one night in my sadness I heard your messages in Matthew. I never knew that God was a God of comfort and love. I was intrigued. I now listen regularly and consider myself a Christian. God’s Word not only brings me comfort, it brings me strength to raise my children without my wife. I cannot tell others about my new faith … others in my village might hurt me or worse they may harm my children. Please pray for my family and for me. I wish to raise my children to worship Jesus.”
Praise God that He loves us and reaches out to us in our time of need! Today let’s pray that more people in Nigeria will hear His Word and respond in faith. And let’s also ask Him to protect this family and other Nigerians who worship Him in secret.
Tomorrow our prayer journey through Africa continues as we lift up listeners of our Kinyarwanda language broadcast.
